about
I love board games. So much so, that I wrote a spontaneous song about Clue and recoded it on my roommate's iMac freshman year of college.
In those days, I was fascinated with Garageband and how easy it was to create multiple tracks over each other. Mrs. Peacock was the second song I recoded on my own, using a built-in microphone. It was the first time I realized that I could keep adding multiple vocal tracks of harmony. The funny thing is, I messed up on the recording halfway through the song and never completed it.
Now over eight years later, I found it challenging to recreate something I did on a whim one night in college — but, Dan and I have done our best.
I have a distinct memory of showing the original song to my parents. My mom’s first comment was “Who did the voice for Mrs. Peacock … oh, you did? That doesn’t sound anything like you.”
lyrics
Mrs. Peacock, you kind of blew it
In the ballroom where we dance
I sense foul play
Mr. Green is dead
You were smart and had an alibi
But when we looked it up in the classified folder...
Guilty as charged
Oh, when will you get a clue?
When will you get a clue?
Mr. Green, you will be missed
By everyone in this mansion
You had so many more spaces to fill
And secret passages to explore
Mr. Green, I'm going to miss you and your greenliness
Mr. Green, you were my favorite piece of plastic
Why did you have to get shot by an unknown suspect?
And where in the world did that smoking revolver come from?
Mr. Green, I swear, you will be avenged soon
Mrs. Peacock, you kind of blew it
In the ballroom where we dance
I sense foul play
Mr. Green is dead
Oh, when will you get a clue?
